چکیده

We investigate classical spin systems in d≥1 dimensions whose transfer operator commutes with the action of a nonamenable unitary representation of a symmetry group, here SO(1, N); these systems may alternatively be interpreted as systems of interacting quantum mechanical particles moving on hyperbolic spaces. In sharp contrast to the analogous situation with a compact symmetry group the following results are found and proven: (i) Spontaneous symmetry breaking already takes place for finite spatial volume/finitely many particles and even in dimensions d = 1, 2. The tuning of a coupling/temperature parameter cannot prevent the symmetry breaking. (ii) The systems have infinitely many non-invariant and non-normalizable generalized ground states. (iii) the linear space spanned by these ground states carries a distinguished unitary representation of SO(1, N), the limit of the spherical principal series. (iv) The properties (i)–(iii) hold universally, irrespective of the details of the interaction. ∗Membre du CNRS; e-mail: [email protected]

The Symmetries of Equivalent Lagrangian Systems and Constants of Motion

In this paper Mathematical structure of time-dependent Lagrangian systems and their symmetries are extended and the explicit relation between constants of motion and infinitesimal symmetries of time-dependent Lagrangian systems are considered. Starting point is time-independent Lagrangian systems ,then we extend mathematical concepts of these systems such as equivalent lagrangian systems to th...

Modeling of Nonlinear Systems with Friction Structure Using Multivariable Taylor Series Expansion

The major aim of this article is modeling of nonlinear systems with friction structure that, thismethod is essentially extended based on taylore expansion polynomial. So in this study, thetaylore expansion was extended in the generalized form for the differential equations of the statespaceform. The proposed structure is based on multi independent variables taylore extended.According to the pro...

Soil Structure Interaction Effects on Hysteretic Energy Demand for Stiffness Degrading Systems Built on Flexible Soil Sites

This paper aims to study the influence of soil-structure interaction on plastic energy demand spectra directly derived from the energy-balance equations of soil-shallow-foundation structure with respect to an ensemble of far-field strong ground motions obtained from Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research (PEER) database and recorded on alluvium soil. The superstructure is modeled as a single-d...

Comparison of Seismic Input Energy Based on the Characteristics of Structural Hysteretic Behavior

The variation of earthquake input energy with characteristics of various structural systems, particularly in hysteretic states, has not been studied to such extent that creates enough con-fidence for proposing energy-based design criteria. In this paper, at first, based on a somehow new insight into the concept of earthquake input energy, two concepts of ‘Received Energy’ (ERec) and ‘Returned E...

Stable states in the radiant heat transfer of the near field for two parallel slabs

In this paper, we study the dynamics of the radiative heat transfer of between two slabs. In these systems, depending on the type of slabs and the thermal interaction they have with their surroundings, they can have one or several stable states in the phase space. It can be seen that in these systems, quantities such as distance and thickness affect the states of these systems. We show that the...
